RARE Yamaha YTR-931 B flat trumpet, silver

  
This is a rare Yamaha YTR-931ML Bb trumpet in silver lacquer, serial number 003954. These horns were made between 1975 and 1980 during the era of Yamaha's collaboration with Schilke. Of the four Custom Bb trumpets made at that time (including the 932, 933, and 934), the 931 is the top-of-the-line professional model. It's lightweight, has a bright sound, and a responsive upper register, making it great for lead playing. I couldn't find a lot of information about this horn. I contacted Yamaha, and the rep who replied to me also didn't have much info, but he kindly scanned an old brochure featuring this model. Overall the horn is in great condition. There is some lacquer wear on the 1st valve casing, on the 3rd valve slide (see pics) and where the thumb rests under the leadpipe. There is also a tastefully done sterling silver patch in the shape of a diamond on the 1st valve slide (see pic).

The valves and slides move easily, and the horn has been professionally serviced by Osmun Music in Acton, MA. It also has new valve springs. Original Yamaha case included, but no mouthpiece.
