Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (1632 - 1675) is considered one of the finest artists of the 1600s. He is greatly admired for his exquisite simplicity and the optical appeal of his pictures. Producing only 35 paintings in his 20 year painting career, his focus on subtlety, contrast and his use of light was revolutionary. Vermeer's works have often been described as beautiful, enigmatic, and poetical, with a sense of the "classical" harmony and purity of designs. There have been many great horn and mouthpiece makers in the Los Angeles area, and among them stands Joseph Marcinkiewicz - an accomplished trumpet player, popular mouthpiece maker and respected boutique horn builder.

Marcinkiewicz instruments are known for impeccable build quality and excellent playability. The Vermeer trumpet is a classically designed trumpet, inspired by the great horns of yester year. Traditional in its design the Vermeer trumpet is perfectly suited for players of all levels and styles. Using the same valve cluster as the Rembrandt models, the Vermeer model trumpet is 100% brass.

The Vermeer model will play a bit tighter and more compact than its Rembrandt counterpart. If you're a player that likes to feel the compression of the instrument, then the Vermeer model trumpet is the horn for you!

The Four is our largest bell using the most open flare we offer. This also makes it the darkest of our bells. Well suited for orchestral as well as small combo work, the large flare makes a warmer sound with more lower resonance.

The Four has the "weight" of sound reminiscent of the classic Martin Committees - a big, dark trumpet sound that is responsive enough for all settings. 4 3/4 Diameter large flare bell. This trumpet is a model 4S/5.

The 4 bell was Joe's largest flare, and the "S" meant that the bell bead was soldered. 5 mouthpipe on many of his designs. The stamp at the bottom of the second valve casing stands for "Marcinkiewicz Music Products".

This trumpet dates to the late 80s during Joe's partnership with Herb Alpert. Warm, dark, powerful sound, with solid intonation and response.

Great compression in the valves. Slides are all smooth and free as appropriate.

The silver plate finish is lush with little wear. You can see that the gold trim does show signs of wear. This trumpet had undergone a Reeves Alignment, done by Bob himself, and that alignment has been preserved during the preparation of this instrument for sale.

There is evidence of a previous (and poor, in my opinion) repair job in reattaching the mouthpipe. Someone had used a tin-heavy or otherwise inappropriate solder, which melts at a much higher temperature. There were large blobs of solder underneath the receiver and the upper tuning slide tube.

I was able to clean up quite a bit. I can send photos from before and after on request.
