I just finished restoring this Lyon & Healy, Chicago, Ill. With a Shepherd's Crook.
Cornet is in Bb and has a extra slide for A. The extra slide for A is marked with #3446. This is Lyon & Healy's "Own Make" hand engraved on the bell and.Surrounding the engraving are leaves also hand engraved. This Cornet dates to 1904, and #3446 is engraved on the bell. Inside the bell is gold-plated that is bright and shiny. There are two (2) slightly worn. Places one on the lead pipe and one on the 2nd slide.
Also a small dent half way down the. Shepherd's Crook of the bell tube. The two (2) unmarked mouthpieces.
One has a bright sound. The other a very nice mellow tone, deeper sound. I like playing this cornet with the deeper sounding mouthpiece. This Cornet also comes with a NEW pair of white gloves for practice purposes.
Oils on your fingers can over time eat into the plating. THE CASE: Outside is average (for it's age) and someone re-lined with green felt not long ago. And is in very good condition.
The latches work great and has a new handle. ALSO, SEE MY OTHER RESTORED TRUMPETS, CORNETS AND MOUTHPIECES. The item "LYON & HEALY VINTAGE SILVER CORNET" is in sale since Thursday, March 14, 2019.
