LEGENDS MF FBL TM Bb Trumpet Mouthpiece. 613 Custom Jazz Pro Lead Solo

Legends Brass MF FBL TM. This model is inspired by a mouthpiece played by the legendary Maynard Ferguson.

In the late 1960's, Maynard worked with Jack Bell, a mouthpiece craftsman in England. Together they created the FBL (Ferguson-Bell Limited) series of mouthpieces. Three depths were created, the TS (shallow), TM (medium) and TD (deep). Rumor has it that Maynard was using this series of mouthpieces when he recorded the original MacArthur Park.

Legends Brass was able to scan a vintage FBL TM for this design. The rim is rounded and extremely comfortable, to support those extended upper-register riffs. Cup depth is very hard to quantify, as with most of Maynard's mouthpieces, since he preferred V-shaped cup. A best estimate would be medium shallow (similar to Bach D). To make this mouthpiece more accommodating to a wide range of players, it has a #27 throat and the Legends S backbore.

Outside Rim Diameter: 1.06 (26.924 mm). Outside Rim Contour: Medium Round.

Cup Depth: V-cup Medium Shallow (similar to Bach D). The Vintage blank is inspired by classic Jet-Tone mouthpieces played by famous trumpet players of a bygone era. It has a beautiful art deco look. There isn't a lot of excess mass with this blank, which makes it versatile enough for general playing but with plenty of zing for those solo and lead parts!
