Frank Holton 1929 Model Llewellyn Trumpet -original GOLD PLATED FINISH. This 1929 Gold Plated premium Llewelyn model has been kept in museum like quality with absolutely zero dents, perfectly round bell and all original parts and finish. Comes with a premium gig bag case, a practice mute, and a Vincent Bach 3c mouthpiece. This model was the top of the line of its era and looks and sounds as it did when it came out of the factory. This professional model is regarded as the finest instrument in the companys history and was played in concert settings by Edward Llewelyn. This model is extremely rare today and unheard of in this great condition. The gold plate finish on interior of bell has been polished down to yellow brass. Llewellyn was the first trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the 20s and 30s. He was one of the most well known trumpet players of his time.
Renold Schilke studied with Llewellyn starting in 1928. He played Holton Revelations exclusively and this is simply a version of such with a large bore to suit his use. From the Holton Loyalist site. The main tuning slide is reversed like the Martin Committee Model, and I would compare the sound most closely to the Committee. It would most likely have been used originally in an orchestral situation, however this is an amazing jazz horn today.
