Very nice playing/physical condition Buescher 400 Top Hat & Cane Alto Saxophone on offer. Finished in a rare burnished silver plate, the horn properly exemplifies the apex of Buescher artistry & master craftsmanship. This horn was originally manufactured for the US Army Service Academy-West Point Band during the Korean War as evidenced by the engraving/serial number (3421XX). The Buescher 400 alto has nice light action and plays easily from low Bb to high F on newer brown leather pads.

The horn still has the original Snap in resonators and all but one or two original Norton springs-I can't find any snap in resonators that do not appear original to the horn. The body of the horn shows no obvious dents/dings but has some silver plate finish scratching and minor use marks to the brass through the silver plate on various touch points. There is some regular silver plate patina wear underneath many of the keys that would need to be disassembled and hand polished to have everything shine to 100%. However, the silver plate is still covers 95%+ of the body/neck and it looks great as is. The Buescher 400 has one obvious re-soldered post on the lower part of the c-sharp mechanism--this is detailed in listing photo #9. It could be cleaned up a little bit. Please feel free to ask any questions and thanks for looking at the listing.
