Smith-Watkins Soloist Eb Soprano Cornet - Silver Plate (used instrument). It was made in the UK in 2000. The instrument is supplied in a used wood-shell hard case, in full working order and good cosmetic condition. Two separate lead-pipes are included in the listing: H = large and S = tighter/smaller; both fit a cornet mouthpiece shank.

Product Specification (copied from the Smith-Watkins website). Choice of 5 interchangeable leadpipes. Shunts on 1st & 3rd slides. Proven valve system as used on Smith-Watkins trumpets since 1984. Available in lacquer or silverplate.

As with all of our instruments, this cornet has been fully checked and serviced by our technicians to ensure complete function and the best possible sound. The mechanical condition is excellent. The tuning slides have been cleaned, polished, and carefully fitted, creating a tight fit and a neat surface finish. The mobile first and third slides have a quick, light action, without any catching or roughness.

The valves have been physically and chemically cleaned, and their action is excellent: quick, easy and smooth. The pistons themselves are unmarked and in excellent condition. The consumable parts have all been checked, and the water key corks have been replaced. The cosmetic condition is good.

There are a few tiny dings on the top of the bell section, and a couple of even smaller dings on the shepherds crook. There are a few small scratches on the instrument (mainly on the bell section and shepherds crook), along with some accumulated polishing marks (very light scratches, picked up from a cleaning cloth). There is a small patch of exposed brass at the base of the third slide ring, where the ring has been re-attached in the past. The overall condition of the pate is good, and the instrument is very presentable. You are most welcome to visit and test the instrument in our playing room prior to making a commitment.
